Högby lighthouse
Högby lighthouseOn the island of Öland, located in the south east of Sweden there are nine currently active light houses. This is Högy lighthouse. It was first built in Stockholm 1897 for a crafts and indusry-exibition but was shortly thereafter moved to the north-east part of Öland and rebuilt in Höby in 1898 along with a new living house. The lower part of the house is built with lime stone from the island of “Blå Ljungfrun” located on the west coast of Öland. Source: Länsstyrelsen i Kalmar län
Stone cross at S:t Johannes Chapel
Stone cross at S:t Johannes ChapelAlmost at the very southern tip of Öland you find the remains of a chapel. The only remains however is the stone cross that rises up from the grass. The chapel was built sometime in the 1200 and abandoned in the 1600. The cross it self was erected in 1966 by the local community association. Stones from the chapel was used to build ht lighthouse “Långa Jan” in the 1700.In this photo the ground and the cross was lighted by the lighthouse, giving it a nice feeling according to me.I chose to not process the milky way as much as I usualy do since I felt that the cross was the true subject.
